2015 Peace Parade Agenda & Photos

Secondary Students- opening followed by singing “What a Wonderful World”

  • Good morning. Welcome to the Peace Parade.

  • Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21.

  • The United Nations General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.

  • The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All”.

  • This year’s theme is designed to highlight the importance of all segments of society to work together to strive for peace.

  • To honor this day of peace, students from Montessori School at Hampstead now have some special presentations.

Primary 1 - Peace Chant

I Choose Peace ~ Primary 1

I say no to hitting,

I say no to kicking,

I say no, no, no!

I say yes to hugs

I say yes to love,

I say yes, yes, yes!

I choose peace

Primary 2- Sing Oh Dr. King and Pledge To The Earth

Oh, Dr. King ~ Lucia Kemp Henry

(Sung to the tune of “O Christmas Tree”)

Oh, Dr. King, He had a dream,

A dream of peace and freedom.

Oh, Dr. King, he had a dream,

A dream of peace and freedom.

He dreamed America would be

A land filled with equality.

Oh, Dr. King, he had a dream,

A dream of peace and freedom.

Pledge to the Earth ~ Aline D. Wolf

I promise to be good to the earth

And all life on this planet –

All growing things,

All kinds of animals,

And all races of people.

I promise to protect all life on our planet,

To live in harmony with nature,

And to share everything fairly,

So that all people can live with one another

In good health and in peace.

Lower Elementary - Songs with Sign Language

Let There Be Peace On Earth ~ Jill Jackson Miller and Sy Miller (Chanted stanza from song)

Let there be peace on earth

And let it begin with me.

Let there be peace on earth

And let it begin with me.

Let there be peace on earth

And let it begin with me.

Let there be peace on earth

And let it begin with me.

Let there be peace on earth

And let it begin with me.

A Song of Peace ~ Susan DeRiso

(Sung to the tune of “Sing a Song of Sixpence”)

Sing a song of peace for friendship everywhere

Sing a song of peace to show you really care.

Sing a song of peace and hold it in your heart.

Isn’t that the perfect place for peace to have its start?
