Last year MSH had great success with our Enjoy the City fundraiser orchestrated by our very own Adrianna. We are doing it again and need your help.

We sell our Enjoy the City coupon books for $20. They come with hundreds of coupons for vendors in and around the Montgomery area. The book value is easily recovered after using only a few coupons. But, beyond that, every book you purchase helps MSH meet its budgetary obligation. This year, more than ever, we need your help raising money. This is a well packaged coupon book that ensures your success in representing our school in the Montgomery area.

Today, we are sending one Enjoy the City coupon book home with each student along with an envelope for tracking and collecting orders. We are sending this single book home on consignment. If you decide not to purchase or sell this book, please return it by the order deadline of Friday, October 9, 2015.

For the class that sells the most books per student, we will have a celebration pizza lunch d...

Secondary Students- opening followed by singing “What a Wonderful World”

  • Good morning. Welcome to the Peace Parade.

  • Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21.

  • The United Nations General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.

  • The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All”.

  • This year’s theme is designed to highlight the importance of all segments of society to work together to strive for peace.

  • To honor this day of peace, students from Montessori School at Hampstead now have some special presentations.

As part of the Normalization process and development of the classroom community and independence, the upper grades at Montessori School at Hampstead attend overnight trips at the beginning of each school year. Last week, the Upper Elementary students were at Camp Chandler in Wetumpka and the trip was a big success. Thank you to all who helped make it such a great growth opportunity for our students, faculty, and parents.  You can read more about the trip and check out some photos of the students in action on our blog.

We have begun our third full week of school. Things are settling down and routines are coming alive. During the first several weeks of school, considerable energy is spent facilitating the safe space necessary for the children to find their footing and feel comfortable learning. If you are interested in learning more about this period known as the Montessori Normalization Period, you can read our blog post or talk to your child’s teacher. The Normalization Period is well worth the time and energy as it pays substantial dividends over the remainder of the year.

In celebration of the International Day of Peace, Montessori School at Hampstead will hold our 3rd annual Peace Parade on Monday, September 21st. Please join us at the school from 9 am-10 am to see the students walk in the parade, sing songs, and read poetry.

As you know, a core mission of our school is promoting peace. We strive to create an environment of mutual respect, empathy, and understanding to help promote safety and peace within the classroom and beyond. We believe strongly that empathy and understanding are the most direct paths to a peaceful future for our students and families.

For participation in the parade, please have your child at school by 8:30 am.

This week, all Montessori School at Hampstead students began French. Once each week our Early Childhood students (Toddler & Primary) will have French once each week.  Elementary and Secondary students will have French class twice per week. French, this year, is taught by Mai Dehart and the Hampstead Library is allowing us to use their meeting room as needed. Mai is fluent in English, German, French, Arabic, and Spanish. Should you want to communicate directly with Mai, you can email her at Au revoir!

Bricks for Kids is another great extracurricular activity offered to our students. During this first six-week cycle, the students will work on building and learning about animals via the creative bricks we know as LEGOS. The older students will build things like spiders and seals, while the younger students will work on pattern recognition through animals like kangaroos and other zoo animals. Montessori School at Hampstead students aged 3-12 are eligible to sign up.

Classes for three- and four-year-olds run every Thursday from 3 pm-3:45 pm beginning Thursday, September 10. This class meets once a week for six weeks and costs $60.

Classes for five- through twelve-year-olds run every Thursday from 3:45 pm-4:45 pm beginning Thursday, September 10th. This class meets once a week for six weeks and costs $72.

We’ve reached out to Coach Jan, the resident tennis pro at the Hampstead Tennis Pro Shop.  He is interested in working with MSH to schedule tennis classes for students similar to his offerings in the past. These classes would likely be offered at 3:30 pm twice a week and they typically run for six weeks. The cost of the six-week cycle has yet to be determined, but would be in the $125 range. Classes would be offered for our Elementary and Secondary students and students would need to provide their own racquets. Coach Jan is amazing and we are lucky to have access to him as members of the Hampstead community.

We are currently assessing the viability of offering such a program AND WE NEED YOUR INPUT. Would your child be interested in signing up for such a program? Would you be interested in helping to shuttle a group of students to and from the Hampstead tennis courts? Please email the front office and let us know what you think.

We still have open slots in our Primary (Ages 3-5), Lower Elementary (1st-3rd Grades), and Middle/Secondary (7th-9th Grades) programs. If you know of someone who is looking for a school home, we would appreciate the connection. Remember, we have a referral tuition credit available for referrals leading to a new enrollment. Read more about our program here.
