Welcome to the Montgomery Area, Maxwell-Gunter Students

July 1, 2015

Montessori School at Hampstead would like to be one of the first to welcome you to Montgomery. We hope you and your family will enjoy your time in our community and that you settle in quickly.

There are many wonderful things about Montgomery and the surrounding area. If you are interested in sporting events, we have some of the country’s best college football nearby with both Auburn University and the University of Alabama just a short drive from away. Of course, the Class AA Baseball team for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the Montgomery Biscuits, should not be missed. For those interested in the arts, we have the world famous Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the Montgomery Art Museum, the Community Theatre in Old Cloverdale, and the single screen Capri Theatre. If history is your passion, the Alabama Department of Archives and History is a must see, the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma is worth a drive, and tours of the  Civil Rights Memorial and the Dexter King Memorial Church in downtown Montgomery offer powerful lessons in history.

If you are interested in activities for the children, both Lake Martin and Lake Jordan are a short drive and provide great fun for those wanting to experience lake life or simply enjoy the natural beauty of Alabama. Oak Mountain State Park, just south of Birmingham, and Chewacla State Park in Auburn are two great locations for day hikes, swimming, camping, and fishing and offer easy terrains for younger children.

When it comes to education for your children, Montgomery has many great options, including one of the top ranked high schools in the Unites States, the Loveless Academic Magnet Program. At Montessori School at Hampstead, we offer programs for toddlers, starting at 18 months, extending through middle school. Montessori School at Hampstead offers a structured yet individual, child-driven approach to education based on the Montessori method. Focus is on the whole child, imparting social and emotional skills in addition to academics. This approach is designed to build a child’s self-esteem and foster a lifelong, self-driven desire to learn. Located in the Hampstead community off Taylor Road, we also incorporate a farm-to-fork curriculum utilizing the on-site community farm.

At Montessori School at Hampstead, we believe strongly in community, diversity, and building and supporting the development of happy, independent children who will become community-minded adults. We have an international curriculum and offer

We hope you will consider Montessori School at Hampstead when looking for a school community to fit the needs of your family. Call any time to schedule a tour and please contact us if we can be of service during your time in Montgomery. We want you to feel as much a part of the community as we do.
